            Softball Recap: Leo Lions vs. East Noble Knights        
        
		
        
        
            Leo had won three straight on the road, but  on Monday they bumped their record up to 16-3 to make it four. They had just enough and edged out the East Noble Knights  3-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lions also won the last time the pair played  back in May of 2024.

 Leah Shappell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Carley Funk, who  went 1-for-3 with one  home run.
As for East Noble, their loss  ended  a  five-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 9-4. The  matchup marked their lowest-scoring  contest so far this season.
On East Noble's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in:  Abby Alwine gave up  just two earned  (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.
 On the hitting side,  Paige Griggs was cooking despite her team's loss,   going 1-for-3 with one  home run. Another player making a difference was  Aubrey Helmkamp, who  went 2-for-4 with one  triple and one  double.
 Looking ahead, Leo will challenge Bellmont at 5:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. The Lions are facing the Braves at the right time seeing as the Braves are stuck on  a  five-game losing streak. East Noble has  already played their next  game (against Carroll), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
