Baseball Recap: Sipsey Valley Takes a Loss

On Saturday, the Sipsey Valley Bears didn't have quite enough to beat the Sparkman Senators and fell 6-5.

Sipsey Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was LJ Cormier, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Ty Crawford also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Sipsey Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 2.5 runs. Sparkman's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6.

Coming up, Sipsey Valley will face off against Oxford at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Oxford 3.2, Sipsey Valley 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Sparkman, they will square off against University School of Nashville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sparkman is facing University School of Nashville at the right time seeing as University School of Nashville is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
