Softball Recap: Madison Plains Comes Up Short

If Madison Plains was feeling good fresh off their 12-2 takedown of Worthington Christian on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Golden Eagles came up short against the Northeastern Jets on Thursday, falling 25-4. The Golden Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Madison Plains has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Northeastern, they moved to 11-12 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Coming up, Madison Plains will venture away from home to face off against Hillsboro at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Northeastern, they will host Ridgemont at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Jets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Gophers have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season.
