Baseball Recap: Washington Latin Public Charter School Find Success

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Washington Latin Public Charter School ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Maret Frogs 3-2. For the Lions, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 victory the Frogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Tate Meier was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Meier wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Thom Hayden, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

The win snapped Washington Latin Public Charter School's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-5-1 record. As for Maret, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-2.

Washington Latin Public Charter School didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-0 victory against Idea on the 2nd. As for Maret, they will face off against Georgetown Day at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Mighty Hoppers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.17 runs per game on average), something the Frogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
