Football Recap: Hagerstown Tigers vs. Knightstown Panthers

Hagerstown unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 34-33 to the Knightstown Panthers. Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Panthers since Friday.

Despite the loss, Hagerstown saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Graham Vinson rushed for 49 yards and three scores, and also threw for 178 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Tigers also got a significant boost from Lincoln Small, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 86 yards.

Leading Knightstown to victory were Jameson Crawford and Bryor Carmichael. Crawford gained 249 total yards and three touchdowns, while Carmichael threw for 380 yards and four TDs while picking up 13.1 yards per attempt. Crawford really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 79 yards. Gage Broady was Carmichael's top target, picking up 111 receiving yards and one score.
