Baseball Recap: Amador Valley Dons vs. De La Salle Spartans
Amador Valley had lost four straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 9-13 to make it five. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the De La Salle Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-1 on Wednesday.
Max Fried was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
As for De La Salle, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.
On De La Salle's side, Cooper Barnes tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts Barnes has posted since back in April of 2025.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ben Hayden, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. PJ Linck also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, De La Salle is set to challenge their familiar foe San Ramon Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 2.2, the Wolves 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
