Football Recap: Maplewood Finds Home Field Redemption Against Lakeview

There's no place like home for Maplewood, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 40-24 win over the Lakeview Sailors on Friday. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered a 28-13 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Kyle Jordan was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 176 yards and four TDs. Those four rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Potosky, who rushed for 87 yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Maplewood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 285 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Maplewood's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Lakeview, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maplewood will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Conneaut Area at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for Lakeview, they will welcome Reynolds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders' defense has only allowed 7.8 points per game this season, so the Sailors' offense will have their work cut out for them.
