Football Game Preview: Sesser-Valier/Waltonville Red Devils vs. Greenfield/Northwestern Tigers

The Sesser-Valier/Waltonville Red Devils will square off against the Greenfield/Northwestern Tigers at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Sesser-Valier/Waltonville is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Johnston City just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They lost to the Indians on the road by a 36-18 margin. While the Red Devils had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Indians 12-8.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greenfield/Northwestern). They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Unity/Seymour 47-44. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Sesser-Valier/Waltonville's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Greenfield/Northwestern, their win bumped their record up to an identical 6-3.

Sesser-Valier/Waltonville was dealt a bruising 44-16 defeat at the hands of Greenfield/Northwestern in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. Thankfully for the Red Devils, Dylan Pembrook (who rushed for 126 yards and one TD on only 14 carries, and also threw for 121 yards and one touchdown while completing 76.9% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time.
