The North Schuylkill Spartans will head out to take on the Mount Carmel RED TORNADOES at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
North Schuylkill lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Tri-Valley, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. The Spartans blew past the Bulldogs 8-2 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won three games by six runs or more so far this season.
Chase Slotcavage was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kevin Jones, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Cody Osenbach also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.
Meanwhile, Mount Carmel entered their tilt with Milton on Friday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Black Panthers.
Jace Stever looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Jon Morgante was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Gabe Yuskoski, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Mount Carmel's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for North Schuylkill, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.
North Schuylkill skirted past Mount Carmel 5-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
