Baseball Game Preview: Timothy Christian vs. Dunellen Destroyers

Timothy Christian hasn't had much luck against Dunellen recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Timothy Christian will host Dunellen at 4:00 p.m. Timothy Christian will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Timothy Christian lost 21-4 to Somerset Tech on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Dunellen entered their tilt with Perth Amboy Vo-Tech on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They never let the Patriots get on the board and left with a 14-0 win. While the Destroyers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Cole Mayer was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Mayer was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Luke Shealy was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Michael Dow, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Dunellen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Timothy Christian's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Dunellen, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Timothy Christian might still be hurting after the 12-3 defeat they got from Dunellen when the teams last played back in May of 2022. Can Timothy Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
