Sam Gore posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Wednesday. He struck out five batters over four innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He is becoming a predictor of Asheboro's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 4-15 when he doesn't).

Gore's effort led Asheboro over Jordan-Matthews and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
