Football Preview: Haltom Buffalos vs. Grand Prairie Gophers
Two dominant backs in Vudrico Roberson and Xavier Clinton are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. After each having a week off, the Haltom Buffalos and the Grand Prairie Gophers will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Haltom will be strutting in after a victory while Grand Prairie will be coming in after a loss.
Haltom took a loss when they played away from home back in September, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Friday. They slipped by Lamar 44-43. The Buffalos' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Haltom found their leader in sophomore Roberson, who rushed for 153 yards and four touchdowns. Elijah Lewis's longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards.
Haltom was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 217 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 181 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Haltom's defensive line and their five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Kyle Parks and Micah McIntyre, who racked up four sacks between them. McIntyre also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six. Keyan Parks was another major factor on D, making 16 total tackles and defending one pass.
Meanwhile, Grand Prairie played a tough game last Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Martin and fell 65-6. The defeat continues a trend for the Gophers in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost five in a row.
