After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Elida, Hondo Valley was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the San Jon Coyotes 39-16. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Coyotes, too.

Hondo Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaylee Gomez, who posted 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Salcido, who earned 13 points.

The win got Hondo Valley back to even at 1-1.

Coincidentally, Hondo Valley and San Jon will both be playing Clovis Christian the next time they take the court. The Eagles will head out to face the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Coyotes will host them at 5:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026.
