Baseball Recap: Marshall Takes a Loss

Marshall fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Hannibal on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates. The Owls have struggled against the Pirates recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Chase Thompson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Marshall's record now sits at 1-13. As for Hannibal, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-12 record this season.
