Baseball Game Preview: Carrollton Hawks vs. Pittsfield Saukees

The Carrollton Hawks are taking a road trip to face off against the Pittsfield Saukees at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Things were looking good for Carrollton after they put the first run on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 9-3 to Auburn. The Hawks have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Pittsfield fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Rushville-Industry on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 5-4.

Carter Frazier was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kaden Ferguson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Luke Saxe, who went 1-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Carrollton's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Pittsfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-6.

Carrollton might still be hurting after the 15-1 loss they got from Pittsfield when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
