St. Xavier faced Trinity in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Tigers walked away with a 6-2 win over the Shamrocks. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.

Jakob Reed spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kyle Krupp, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Jaxon Coomer was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

St. Xavier pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Trinity, their loss dropped their record down to 16-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Xavier will head out to face off against Pleasure Ridge Park at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 3.6, the Panthers 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Trinity, they are taking a road trip to take on Waggener at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
