Baseball Game Preview: Franklin Broncos vs. Surry County Cougars

Franklin is 0-10 against Surry County since April of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Broncos are taking a road trip to challenge the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Franklin is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 19th straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They came up short against Northampton, falling 17-1.

Franklin saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ayden Branch, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 24 runs the game before, Surry County was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They lost 10-1 to Southampton. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Indians: they've now lost seven in a row.

Having lost for the first time this season, Surry County fell to 2-1. As for Franklin, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Franklin couldn't quite finish off Surry County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Broncos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
