Basketball Recap: Motlei Stovall Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat South Davidson

West Davidson won the last time they faced South Davidson and things went their way on Thursday too. The West Davidson Dragons walked away with a 50-38 win over the South Davidson Wildcats. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dragons.

West Davidson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Motlei Stovall, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 15 points and seven rebounds. What's more, Stovall also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Cooper, who went 5 of 9 en route to 11 points and five rebounds.

West Davidson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

West Davidson has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 5-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for South Davidson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

West Davidson will square off against East Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. As for South Davidson, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Moore at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd.
