Football Game Preview: Melrose Red Raiders vs. Swampscott Big Blue

The Melrose Red Raiders will take on the Swampscott Big Blue at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Melrose is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Reading Memorial two weeks ago (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Red Raiders lost 36-12 to the Rockets. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.

Meanwhile, Swampscott got the win against Peabody Veterans Memorial on Friday by a conclusive 28-6. The Big Blue haven't had any issues with the Tanners recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Swampscott now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Melrose, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Melrose was able to grind out a solid win over Swampscott when the teams last played back in September of 2024, winning 34-27. Will the Red Raiders repeat their success, or do the Big Blue have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
