Nucla put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Soroco Rams 74-53. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 21 points or more this season.

Nucla's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Austin Garvey led the charge by dropping a double-double with 20 points and ten rebounds. Those 20 points gave Garvey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brycen Rummel, who went 6-for-13 on his way to 14 points along with six assists and six boards.

Nucla smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aiden Pittington, who shot 40% from the field en route to 24 points and six rebounds. Joseph Cordova was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Nucla's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Soroco, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Nucla will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Ridgway at 6:30 p.m. on January 8, 2026. The game will give the Mustangs their first taste of in-conference action this season. Soroco will take on Sierra Grande in a holiday battle at 4:40 p.m. on Thursday.
