Football Recap: Lubbock-Cooper Extends Winning Streak to Three + How To Watch

It's playoff time, and Lubbock-Cooper had no trouble coming through when it counted. They had just enough and edged out the Del Valle Conquistadores 45-42. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Lubbock-Cooper had a senior duo take command as Chamayne Johnson Jr gained 124 total yards and Ryan Rodriguez Jr threw for 279 yards and three TDs. Rodriguez Jr has become a key player for the Pirates: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 2-4 otherwise.

Despite the loss, Del Valle still got an impressive performance from Jake Fette, who rushed for 223 yards and three scores while picking up 13.9 yards per carry, and also threw for 174 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes. With that strong performance, Fette is now averaging an impressive 100.5 rushing yards per game. Del Valle's leading receiver Dylan Gonzalez was Fette's top target yet again, picking up 96 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Lubbock-Cooper's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Del Valle, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-2 record.

Looking ahead, Lubbock-Cooper will challenge Walnut Grove at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 964 yards in their previous games. Del Valle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
