Softball Recap: Six Straight Road Wins for Libertyville

Libertyville took a 14-run defeat the last time they faced off against Antioch, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats skirted past the Sequoits 2-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won three matches in a row.

Taylor Higham made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Higham wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Emily Psyhogios, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Libertyville's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Antioch, they moved to 14-11 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Libertyville will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Sequoits: the pair will be back at it again later today.
