Football Recap: Aptos Takes a Loss

Aptos lost against Soquel back in November of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mariners were dealt a 49-14 defeat at the hands of the Knights. While losing is never fun, the Mariners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 391st, while the Knights are ranked 64th).

Soquel got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Keyandre Bailey out in front who rushed for 65 yards and a pair of scores. Another signal caller making a difference was Sam Whelan, who threw for 108 yards and three touchdowns.

This is the second loss in a row for Aptos and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Soquel, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Aptos will challenge rival Carmel at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Soquel is set to take on their familiar foe Salinas at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
