Rabun Gap-Nacoochee's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordan Lindo, who rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Lindo's longest rush was for an impressive 68 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Rabun Gap-Nacoochee also got help from Walker Bryson, who showed off his sure hands for 91 receiving yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Rabun Gap-Nacoochee was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 352 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Rabun Gap-Nacoochee didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Benjamin Weisser and Troy Dottin. Rabun Gap-Nacoochee got some further help from Jay Schell: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made six total tackles (4.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Cannon [Cannon/Concord Academy] against Metrolina Christian Academy on Friday as the team secured a 31-0 win. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Warriors are ranked 252nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rabun Gap-Nacoochee better keep an eye on Seth Henry. He was instrumental in Cannon [Cannon/Concord Academy]'s win, rushing for 82 yards, while also picking up 69 receiving yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Cannon [Cannon/Concord Academy]'s defense and their six sacks. Metrolina Christian Academy's QB won't forget Jackson Laws anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Laws is crushing it when it comes to sacks: he's posted at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Fedel Smith was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 12 total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Cannon [Cannon/Concord Academy]'s record is now 5-3. As for Rabun Gap-Nacoochee, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Everything came up roses for Rabun Gap-Nacoochee against Cannon [Cannon/Concord Academy] when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 57-20 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
