Baseball Game Preview: Abington Heights Comets vs. Stroudsburg Mountaineers

The Abington Heights Comets are taking a road trip to challenge the Stroudsburg Mountaineers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Abington Heights is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.

Abington Heights barely beat Wallenpaupack Area the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Comets put the hurt on the Buckhorns with a sharp 14-4 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Reese Zalewski made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Nick Bradley was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Thomas LaCoe also deserves some recognition as he hit his first doubles of the season.

Meanwhile, Stroudsburg had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against the Konkrete Kids by a score of 12-7.

Like Abington Heights, Stroudsburg also got a great game from a two-way player: Anthony Knight. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Knight was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paul Maccarrone, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Luke Powanda was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
