Baseball Recap: Dunmore Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Dunmore and Old Forge had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Bucks never let the Blue Devils get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Bucks, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Mason Stets was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Dunmore is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-9 otherwise. Stets was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jamie McMynne was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luis Arias, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Dunmore was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Old Forge only posted a batting average of .167.

The win snapped Dunmore's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-9 record. As for Old Forge, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dunmore will welcome Western Wayne at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Old Forge, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Montrose at 10:00 a.m. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Meteors have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
