League recap: Woodcreek rises in state rank

Woodcreek moved up to 373 from 547 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Sierra Foothill. The Timberwolves were able to make move up by besting Oakmont 37-13.

Granite Bay was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from sixth to second in the league. Earlier in the week, the Grizzlies defeated Freedom 47-20.

Rocklin's dynamic duo of Logan Webb and Blake Laurin proved to be unstoppable against Whitney, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Webb threw for 204 yards and 3 touchdowns and Laurin had 100 yards receiving. Gage Sorenson helped Rocklin's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 51 yards.

The Thunder's dynamic duo of Webb and Laurin proved tough for the Wildcats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Gareth Noxon was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 12 carries, he ran for 105 yards as Nevada Union topped Whitney. Travis Owens also contributed to the rushing game with 44 yards on the ground.

Laurin was the best wideout in Sierra Foothill this week as Greg Benzel's team bested Mike Gimenez's team.

Webb put up the best numbers through the air as the Thunder defeated the Wildcats.

Rocklin's Webb and Laurin have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Webb has thrown for 491 yards this season, while Laurin has 14 catches for 232 yards. Del Oro's Dylan Kainrath leads the league in rushing yards with 201.

The Miners fell to Pleasant Grove 62-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Noxon was a bright spot for Nevada Union, as he in the defeat.
