Basketball Recap: Johnson Comes Up Short

Johnson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-43 heartbreaker at the hands of the McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Atomsmashers have suffered since February 6, 2024.

McIntosh County Academy found their leader in freshman J?Myiah Moore, who posted 17 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Zione Bland, who had 12 points.

Johnson's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for McIntosh County Academy, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-7.

Johnson will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Jenkins at 6:00 p.m. on January 10th. As for McIntosh County Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 53-22 win against Portal on the 3rd.
