Softball Recap: Ayden - Grifton Has No Trouble Against North Pitt

Ayden - Grifton won the last time they faced North Pitt and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Chargers blew past the Panthers 15-5. Considering the Chargers have won four games by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kenlie Guthrie made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Raelyn Jones, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Juliyanne Beaman also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Ayden - Grifton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five strikeouts batters in six consecutive contests.

Ayden - Grifton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for North Pitt, they dropped their record down to 2-11 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Ayden - Grifton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
