Baseball Recap: Laughlin Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Laughlin put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the Round Mountain Knights by a score of 11-7. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cougars considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Ayden Whitton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Whitton was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gavin Davis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Tristin Gurule, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Laughlin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Round Mountain only posted a batting average of .250.

Laughlin's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Round Mountain, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laughlin will welcome Ash Fork at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Round Mountain, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Tonopah at 8:00 a.m. The contest will give the Knights their first taste of in-conference action this season.
