Baseball Recap: Gibson Southern Has No Trouble Against Evansville Christian

Gibson Southern came out on top against Evansville Christian on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run second inning. The Titans put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 14-1 win. With that victory, the Titans brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Connor Marvel and Crewe Hasenour did most of the damage at the plate: Marvel went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Hasenour went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Those three RBI gave Marvel a new career-high. Collin Higginbotham was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

Gibson Southern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in three consecutive games.

Gibson Southern is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Evansville Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.
