Football Recap: Altoona Takes a Loss

Altoona extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 2-7. They lost 28-6 to the Cedar Cliff Colts. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mountain Lions of the 31-20 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Despite the loss, Altoona still got an impressive performance from Cody Chathams, who picked up 59 receiving yards and one touchdown.

As for Cedar Cliff, they now have a winning record of 5-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Landon Howell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 126 yards and one TD while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Cedar Cliff is 4-1 when Howell posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 1-3 otherwise.

Looking ahead, Altoona will take on Carlisle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mountain Lions will be up against the Thundering Herd's rather soft defense (which has allowed 40.78 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Cedar Cliff, they are taking a road trip to take on Cumberland Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' defense has only allowed 13.8 points per game this season, so the Colts' offense will have their work cut out for them.
