Basketball Recap: Northside Christian Comes Up Short

Northside Christian was the 80-32 winner over Indian Rocks Christian when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Northside Christian Mustangs fell to the Indian Rocks Christian Eagles 62-57. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Northside Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Elijah Ahlers dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten boards. Ahlers' evening made it 16 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jordyn White, who posted 13 points.

Leading Indian Rocks Christian to victory were Austin McDonnell and Will Murphree. McDonnell dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Murphree dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards. Murphree has been hot for a while, having posted 15 or more points the last 14 times he's played. Kenyon Boswell was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Northside Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Indian Rocks Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Northside Christian has already played their next game, a 71-51 loss against Sports Leadership & Management on the 17th. As for Indian Rocks Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-50 defeat against Life Christian Academy on the 17th.
