Basketball Recap: Hamilton Drops Highest Score of Season Against West Prairie

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hamilton). They took their match on Thursday with ease, bagging a 70-22 victory over the West Prairie Cyclones. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season.

Hamilton found their leader in sophomore Grace Grothaus, who went 5 of 12 en route to 12 points and six rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Hamilton and bumps their season record up to 9-5. As for West Prairie, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14.

Hamilton and West Prairie could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Hamilton (ranked 224th) will meet Fort Madison (ranked 102nd) at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Meanwhile, West Prairie (ranked 611th) will meet Havana (ranked 125th) at 7:30 p.m. on January 13, 2025.
