Volleyball Game Preview: Lincoln-Way East Griffins vs. Barrington Fillies/Broncos

The Lincoln-Way East Griffins will face off against the Barrington Fillies/Broncos at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln-Way East is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Lincoln-Way East is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Wheaton-Warrenville South, who was ranked eighth at the time (Lincoln-Way East was ranked sixth). The Griffins had just enough and edged out the Tigers 2-1 on Thursday.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Lincoln-Way East who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 18-25, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Barrington came up short against Libertyville on Thursday and fell 2-0.

While Barrington ultimately came up short, they really made Libertyville work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-18.

Lincoln-Way East's win bumped their record up to 25-5. As for Barrington, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 19-10 record this season.

Lincoln-Way East skirted past Barrington 2-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Griffins repeat their success, or do the Fillies/Broncos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
