Baseball Recap: Bagdad Beats Anthem Prep for Their Fifth Straight Win

Bagdad waltzed into their match on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They put the hurt on the Anthem Prep Eagles with a sharp 15-6 victory. The Sultans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 games by six runs or more this season.

Michael Langston made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carson Wood, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Rowdy Hooper was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Bagdad kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Anthem Prep only managed five hits.

Bagdad's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Anthem Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Bagdad does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Anthem Prep, they will face off against Maryvale Prep at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles are facing the Matador at the right time seeing as the Matador are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
