Baseball Recap: West Campus Comes Up Short

West Campus dropped to 7-7 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 14-4 to the Fairfield Falcons. The Warriors were not able to make up for their loss to the Falcons from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

West Campus saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Christopher Thomas, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double.

As for Fairfield, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-7. Considering they have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Fairfield's side, Tristen Smith was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Smith is becoming a predictor of Fairfield's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 4-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Smith was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trustin Mitchell, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Fairfield is undefeated when Mitchell posts two or more runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Devin Knox, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Fairfield beat West Campus by a score of 12-1 on Thursday.
