Baseball Game Preview: Gonzaga Prep Bullpups vs. Mt. Spokane Wildcats

For the second straight game, Gonzaga Prep will face off against Mt. Spokane. The Bullpups will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Gonzaga Prep 3.9, Mt. Spokane 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Gonzaga Prep is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Washington's top teams: Mt. Spokane, who was ranked 16th at the time (Gonzaga Prep was ranked 18th). The Bullpups came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 5-2 on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for the Bullpups as they're now sitting on three straight.

Connor Wood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits.

At the plate, Grant Yost was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Gonzaga Prep pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mt. Spokane, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-4.
