Softball Recap: Agua Fria Comes Up Short

Agua Fria extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-14 in the process. They came up short against the Thunderbird Titans, falling 16-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Owls of the 15-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Thunderbird, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-10. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Thunderbird's part, Alicia Flores made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Flores has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lily Rakich was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three runs and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachel Cavanaugh, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Agua Fria didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 21-3 defeat against Deer Valley on the 23rd. As for Thunderbird, they have also already played their next contest, a 15-1 victory against Shadow Mountain on the 23rd.
