League recap: Maple Mountain crushed by Sky View

4A Region 8 recap September 4, 2013

Maple Mountain fell to Sky View 44-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jaren Hall threw for 117 yards in the defeat.

Wasatch led 4A Region 8 in scoring this week after putting up 28 points on Mountain View. Zack Reiss threw for 117 yards and 2 touchdowns during the win.

Salem Hills's dynamic duo of Porter Gustin and Zack Zobell proved to be unstoppable against Payson, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Gustin threw for 272 yards and 3 touchdowns and Zobell had 140 yards receiving. Gunnar Gustin helped Salem Hills' passing attack out by catching 9 balls for 90 yards.

The Skyhawks' dynamic duo of Gustin and Zobell proved tough for the Lions to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Gustin put up the best numbers through the air as Salem Hills beat Payson.

He was 18-31 with 1 interceptions.

Jon Durrant was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 107 yards on 8 carries as the Wasps topped the Lions. Teammate Hunter Pela added to the ground attack by rushing for 24 yards.

Zobell was the best wideout in the league this week as the Skyhawks defeated Payson.

Wasatch made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,973 from 8,369. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 28-3 victory over the Bruins last week.
