Softball Recap: Union Grove Beats Waterford for Their Third Straight Win

Union Grove entered their tilt with Waterford on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Wolverines by a score of 7-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-2 on Tuesday.

Ciara Hage spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on two hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Katie Madrigal and McKenna Bones did most of the damage at the plate: Madrigal got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base, while Bones went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave Bones a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of River Jamison, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

Union Grove's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Waterford, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Union Grove will face off against Hamilton at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Waterford, they will square off against Portage at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
