Baseball Game Preview: Beaufort Eagles vs. South Florence Bruins

The Beaufort Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the South Florence Bruins at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Beaufort is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.

Beaufort is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Hartsville 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since March 8th.

Meanwhile, South Florence got themselves on the board against Bishop England on Saturday, but Bishop England never followed suit. They came out on top against the Battling Bishops by a score of 3-0. That's two games straight that the Bruins have won by exactly three runs.

Landon Hill tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over 6.2 innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Khalon McGee was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

South Florence is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Beaufort, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-13.

Beaufort skirted past South Florence 2-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2021. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Bruins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
