Scarborough is 8-2 against Bonny Eagle since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Red Storm will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Scots at 4:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.
Scarborough is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Sanford. The Red Storm put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 13-1 win on Tuesday. The Red Storm are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 14 straight dating back to last season.
Scarborough got a great performance from Erik Swenson as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cam Wellman, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Fallona, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Bonny Eagle made sure to put some runs up on the board against Windham on Tuesday. The Scots were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Eagles. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Scots.
Lucas Klehn and Gavin Saucier made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Klehn tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Saucier tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. At bat, Klehn went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Saucier went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Canaan Wood was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Garrett Secord was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Scarborough skirted past Bonny Eagle 3-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Red Storm have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Scots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
