Softball Recap: Spring Beats Benjamin Davis for Their Tenth Straight Win

Spring waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They were the clear victors by a 28-0 margin over the Benjamin Davis Panthers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-0 back in February.

Brylynn Rickert was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.

In other batting news, Maleah Grounds was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hailey Jones-Calais, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases.

Spring was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .710. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in ten consecutive games.

Spring's record now sits at 12-9. As for Benjamin Davis, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spring will take on Eisenhower at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.45 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Benjamin Davis, they will challenge Nimitz at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
