Baseball Game Preview: Bell Gardens Lancers vs. Bosco Tech Tigers

The Bell Gardens Lancers will head out on the road to take on the Bosco Tech Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Bell Gardens sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Mark Keppel. The victory continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Aztecs: they've now won six in a row.

Brandon Jaramillo was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Rice, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bosco Tech). They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy on Tuesday. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.

Bosco Tech got a massive performance out of Aidan Ramos, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Roman Valdepena also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Bosco Tech kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Bosco Tech has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. Bell Gardens' record now sits at 7-4.

Bell Gardens couldn't quite finish off Bosco Tech when the teams last played back in March of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can Bell Gardens avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
