Basketball Recap: Marshall Christian Academy Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Marshall Christian Academy kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. They were outmatched by the Word of God Academy Force and fell 62-26. The Guardians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Force apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Zyere Cartwright went supernova For Word of God Academy., going 6-for-15 on his way to 21 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Taj Bell, who posted 11 points and six boards.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marshall Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Shreveport HomeSchool Sports at 7:00 p.m. on February 16, 2026. As for Word of God Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Mount Olive Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Force's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
