Softball Recap: Canby Cougars vs. Hood River Valley Eagles

Canby won the last time they faced Hood River Valley, and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Canby Cougars were the clear victor by a 9-2 margin over the Hood River Valley Eagles. The win made it back-to-back victories for Canby.

Allison Hayzlett was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). Hayzlett has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than six innings in four consecutive pitching appearances. Hayzlett was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Natalie Kern was incredible, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. Summer St John was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Canby's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-9. As for Hood River Valley, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
