Northern Guilford had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the South Mecklenburg Sabres on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for the Nighthawks as they're now sitting on 12 straight.

Dakotah Wilkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 19 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Morgan Headen, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Taylor Claassen, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Northern Guilford hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Mecklenburg struck out 19 times.

Northern Guilford pushed their record up to 22-4 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for South Mecklenburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-12.

Looking ahead, Northern Guilford will square off against Marvin Ridge on Friday. The Mavericks will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. South Mecklenburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
