Volleyball Recap: Winneconne Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

Winneconne had won six straight at home, but on Tuesday they bumped up to 14-4 to make it seven. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Xavier Hawks, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolves have posted since September 13th.

Alyssa Koval paced Winneconne's offense, picking up 18 kills. Koval got some help from Bailey Church and her 30 assists. Church and Koval didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with three apiece.

As for Xavier, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 21-7. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 21-7.

Xavier's loss came despite strong showings from Lily Renz and Bella Velasquez. Renz had 16 digs and two aces, while Velasquez had 18 digs. Renz has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last four times she's played. Sydney Neilitz also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Looking ahead, Winneconne will take on West De Pere in a tournament on Saturday. As for Xavier, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Appleton North at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
