Soccer Game Preview: Everman vs. Joshua

The Everman Bulldogs will head out to challenge the Joshua Owls at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Everman will be looking to extend their current 13-game winning streak.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Everman and Cleburne have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. Everman never let Cleburne get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. Give the Bulldogs' defense some credit: that's the team's seventh straight shutout.

Adan Sanchez and Julian Almanza scored both of Everman's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

Meanwhile, Joshua's game on Friday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Centennial 1-0. That's two games straight that the Owls have won by just one goal.

Joshua was without their leading scorer, Jack Ellis, in Friday's match. With Ellis sitting this one out, Garin Gotcher got some extra time on the pitch (80 vs. his season average of 51.8).

Everman pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those six contests. As for Joshua, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7-3.

Everman beat Joshua 2-0 in their previous meeting back in February. The rematch might be a little tougher for Everman since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
